Jurassic World has continued its monster takings at the international box office and has become the third biggest blockbuster in cinema history.

The movie, which stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, has raked in more than US$1.52 billion at the global box office, eclipsing The Avengers' take.

Now, only James Cameron movies Avatar and Titanic have been more successful worldwide.

Jurassic World is Universal's second film to crack the top five list of highest-grossing films this year after Furious 7 grossed US$1.51 billion globally.

In America, Jurassic World has become one of only four films to pass US$600 million at the domestic box office in 2015, grossing US$614.3 million.

Even though the film has yet to open in one remaining territory, Japan, where it will debut August 5, it's unlikely to top Titanic or Avatar.
