Actress Katherine Heigl insists rumours she is difficult to work with are untrue, but admits she has made "mistakes" when dealing with co-workers.

The former Grey's Anatomy star hit headlines last year when she became the subject of a highly-critical profile in The Hollywood Reporter, with industry sources claiming she was difficult to work with and "not worth" the hassle.

In an Facebook question and answer session, one fan asked Heigl what she thinks about the rumours that she is "very rude", and the actress responded, "Yeah I've heard those too... honestly I don't think I am...

"Nothing makes me more uncomfortable than confrontation or hurting someone's feelings and I would never, ever actively do so on purpose. Of course, just like any human being I've made mistakes and unwittingly or carelessly spoken or acted but I always try to make any wrong right.

"That doesn't mean I won't stand up for myself by drawing boundaries and asking to be treated kindly and respectfully but I don't do that with any rude or unkind intentions, just with the same strength and honesty I think every one of us is entitled to."

Heigl's response comes weeks after Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter, "I have a no a-holes policy. There are no Heigls in this situation... I don't put up with bullshit or nasty people. I don't have time for it."

Heigl famously quit the medical drama in 2010 after refusing to submit an episode for Emmy Awards consideration over what she considered was poor writing for her character.
