It comes after weeks of speculation about impending pregnancy news from the couple.
Knightley and the Klaxons star tied the knot during a low-key ceremony in France in May last year.
The baby news comes after an exciting couple of days for Knightley, 29, who received a Screen Actors Guild nomination on Wednesday and a Golden Globe nod on Thursday for her role as a World War II codebreaker in The Imitation Game.
