Brad Pitt's back, and he's bad.

Pitt plays mob hitman Jackie Cogan and he's got the goatee to prove it.

After a couple of drug-addled try-hards rob a mob card game, he must exact some payback, as his bosses demand their own kind of justice.

Directed by ex-pat Kiwi Andrew Dominik, Killing Them Softly took me in it's oftentimes quite violent yet strangely comforting embrace, offering up plenty of choice dialogue and compelling plot segues.

It’s all delivered up by a classy cast and some dark and dreamy cinematography.

I loved it.

Four stars.
