The coldest red-carpet of the awards season has been crammed with A-Listers, as the British Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) were dished out in London.

British comedian Stephen Fry hosted the 69th edition of the awards.

Kiwi filmmaker Finola Dwyer, producer of Brooklyn, was among the first winners of the night, as the film took home Best British Film.

Star Wars fans will be happy; The Force Awakens star John Boyega won the Rising Star award, and the film won Best Visual Effects.

The big awards of the night closely mirrored the Golden Globes.

Acting awards went to Brie Larson (Room), Kate Winslet (Steve Jobs) and Leonardo DiCaprio (The Revenant).

Local hero Mark Rylance won the BAFTA for his excellent outing in Bridge of Spies.

Inside Out won Best Animated Film and Ennio Morricone took home an award for his score of The Hateful Eight.

The Revenant dominated the big categories, also taking out Best Director for Alejandro G. Inarritu, and Best Film, as well as Best Sound and Cinematography.
