A Kiwi modder has created a set of textures for Grand Theft Auto V to turn the game's Los Santos into a New Zealand city, complete with The Warehouse, Pak 'n' Save, Tui billboards and the Mongrel Mob.

Waipukuraru man Andre Hema-Kani shared screenshots of his mods on Reddit this morning. They primarily involve new textures for storefronts, billboards, and vans, including the likes of Pak 'n' Save, The Warehouse, New World, Fastway Couriers, Woolworths, Playtech, Tui, Kiwi Bank, and KFC.

There's even one screenshot that shows the player's character wearing a Mongrel Mob jacket, and other planned additions include St John's ambulances, NZ Police cars and Work and Income New Zealand offices.

At this point, Hema-Kani has only released screenshots of his mods, and is unsure if he'll release it to the public due to concerns about businesses objecting to this use of their branding. However, he did state that he would release a zip file once everything's complete.

Hema-Kani said that he's been working on the textures during a two-week holiday, with each storefront taking about six hours. He explained that he wanted to give Grand Theft Auto V a familiar feel, despite Waipukurau not having a Warehouse or Pak 'n' Save.

"We've just got some cafes and bakeries, and schools. But it makes it feel like home," he said.
