La Roux co-founder Ben Langmaid feels "truly saddened" by his departure from the dance act during the making of new album Trouble In Paradise.
The duo, fronted by British singer Elly Jackson, parted ways while working on the follow-up to their Grammy Award-winning eponymous debut record, which was released in 2009.
Jackson blamed the split on creative differences during an interview in May, and Langmaid has now given his side of the story and thrown his support behind the upcoming second album.
He says in a statement to NME, "We've had creative differences in the past (what band hasn't?) but we always got through them and usually the music benefits. I am truly saddened that it has ended this way, but I am immensely proud of what we achieved together.
"We wrote five great songs together, all of which are on the [new] album. I'm looking forward to the record being a great success and I shall enjoy watching it unfold. I have immense pride in the part I played; no one can take that away from me."
Trouble in Paradise, which features five songs co-written by Langmaid, is due for release on 7 July. Jackson will continue with La Roux on her own.
