Lena Dunham has described Sarah Jessica Parker as her "passion".

The 28-year-old is the creator of hit HBO series Girls, which was also the network that broadcast Sarah Jessica's hit show Sex and the City. Lena was a massive fan of the series growing up, and its lead star in particular.

"I was obsessed with her because I saw Once Upon a Mattress on Broadway. She was my passion," she told The Hollywood Reporter.

"I printed out pictures of her from very early Internet, and stuck them all over the walls of my bedroom."

Girls is currently four series in and HBO has commissioned a fifth. Sex and the City ran for six seasons before spawning two film versions, and Lena admits she has similar ambitions for her show.

"We'd want to wait long enough for something to have really gone down," she revealed, adding that it would be a decade after the series ended.

She added to the outlet that HBO has asked for six series of Girls, but she has no idea if it will continue beyond that.

"I think America has a tendency to push shows past their due dates," she admitted. "I like the British model - in and out."

The writer has obviously thought about her character Hannah's fate. And while she has had some ideas about the final shot, she hasn't made any definite decisions on the outcome.

"Will she be with anyone?" she mused. "That's the question. And how important is it ending up with someone, and is that the marker of success for a woman?"
