Liam Gallagher has denied a report suggesting he is set to launch a solo career and is working on a new album.

Editors at British newspaper The Sun reported on Tuesday that the former Oasis frontman has been putting together new songs since his band Beady Eye split last year.

However, he has now dismissed the rumours as untrue, with a spokesperson telling NME.com, "[It is] a totally fabricated rumour."

Asked about the claim Gallagher is eyeing a solo album, the representative replies "[It's] not true."

Fans have been hoping for an Oasis reunion to mark the 20th anniversary of their (What's the Story) Morning Glory? album later this year, and the speculation was fuelled after Gallagher was spotted at a concert by his brother Noel earlier this month. The siblings fell out as Oasis imploded in 2009 and were estranged for several years.
