Lorde has reportedly hit back at impatient fans who took exception to her being on holiday while they wait for the release of her next album.
The 19-year-old Kiwi superstar posted an Instagram photo of herself on vacation in an undisclosed location, crouching on the ground next to a frog.
According to NME.com, one person commented: "Do you think we'll ever get another album or should we just give up on you as an artist?"
Lorde replied that she'd been "working like a dog for a year" to finish the record, which will be the follow-up to her 2013 studio debut Pure Heroine.
"Give up on me if you want to! I'm an artist, I write a record when I have enough special stories to tell, and it's all me, every melody every lyric, not some team who just start the machine up every eighteen months like clockwork," she wrote.
Her comment has since been deleted.
No release date has been given for the new album, but Lorde has been giving fans occasional updates on Twitter.
