Mad Max: Fury Road leads Empire nominations

Mad Max: Fury Road looks set to dominate the 2016 Jameson Empire Awards after scoring ten nominations.

The action adventure movie, starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron, has been nominated for Best Film, Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Best Actor and Actress for the two leads, Best Director for George Miller, Best Visual Effects, and other technical awards.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens follows closely behind with nine nods, and will compete against Mad Max: Fury Road for Best Film, Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy, and Best Director for JJ Abrams. Stars Daisy Ridley and John Boyega both score nominations in the best newcomer categories.

The winners are voted by the British public and will be announced at a London ceremony hosted by comedian David Walliams on March 20.
