The trailer for the film The Magnificent Seven has been released online today.

The western is directed by Antoine Fuqua, director of the critically acclaimed thriller Training Day.

The Magnificent Seven features two of the same leading actors from Training Day – Hollywood heavyweights Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke.

Fuqua is bringing a modern twist to the classic story which originally screened in 1960, then directed by John Sturges (The Great Escape) and starring Charles Bronson and Steve McQueen.

The film stays close to the original, simple narrative, in which seven lone gunmen get together to defend a poor village against savage thieves.

It looks set to be another in a line of successful westerns to come out over the past few years, including the Coen Brothers' True Grit, Tarantino's Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, and last year's The Revenant, which won Leonardo DiCaprio an Oscar for best actor.
