Married at First Sight: Episode four recap

Episode four of the relationship and behavioural experiment Married at First Sight aired last night. This was the episode when couples went back to day-to-day life with their new boos.

Ice queen Christie was beginning to thaw a little for her patient farmer husband Mark. But she still had her doubts as she headed out to his farm in rural NSW. When she looked out of her window in the city she saw buildings. When she'd look out of his, she'd see grass and cows. Were the two of them just too different, she wondered.

But Mark swayed her with champagne, flowers and a pineapple. He even let her put a wax candle in his ear -- perhaps the most indisputable gesture of love imaginable.

Erin moved out of her parents' house to shack up with Bryce. She struggled to tell him that she liked him, so she decided to make him a lasagne as a cheese covered display of affection.

Cooking the meal was a process for the 25-year-old. She didn't know if carrots were supposed to be peeled or not and completely neglected to chop the cloves of garlic. She held the onion in the air asking "how does one go about this?"

But with the help of her mother on speed dial, she did it. And it made Bryce "a happy man".

There was no room in Xavier's drawers when Simone first arrived at his place. After a little back and forth, Xavier said he could move some of his things into the living room in the drawers under the TV. Simone proclaimed "she won" – this battle perhaps.

Xavier chose to watch sport over eating the chocolate dipped strawberries Simone prepared. Simone stared pensively into the desserts, presumably wondering where the spark they shared on their honeymoon was gone, and who the f*** doesn't like fruit dipped in chocolate.

Everyone likes chocolate dipped strawberries. Xavier was definitely bitter about the drawers.

Clare and Jono couldn't agree on how to settle conflict. Clare was into deep breathing and counting. Jono liked to freak out and yell.

Clare said she couldn't handle his tantrums. She tried to be playful and lighten the mood by hitting Jono in jest with a bag of dog s***. But he wasn't having it, and strangely, it just contributed to growing tensions.

Clare tried to chat with Jono about his coping methods but when she did, true to form, he couldn't cope. He left her house and their future up in the air.

We eagerly anticipate the next instalment -- when the four couples meet each other.
