Metallica have announced an upcoming in-store performance to celebrate 2016 Record Store Day.

The thrash metal pioneers, who are this year's Record Store Day Ambassadors, will be playing at Rasputin Music in Berkeley, California on April 16.

"We'll be traveling back to our roots by setting up at the legendary Rasputin Music for an extremely unique Record Store Day live performance," the band writes on their official website.

"We will also be celebrating the release of remastered and deluxe versions of Kill 'Em All and Ride The Lightning, getting loud, noisy and sweaty, shaking up the East Bay old-school style.

The 'Fight Fire With Fire' rockers performed at another California Rasputin Records in Mountain View, to launch the inaugural Record Store Day in 2008.

The cassette re-release of their first ever demos collection, No Life Til Leather, was the biggest seller of last year's Record Store Day.
