Metallica, Taylor Swift and No Doubt are among the eclectic acts who will perform at America's first Rock In Rio festival next year.

The Brazilian festival is branching out in 2015 with a US version of the annual event, which will be held in Las Vegas, and the three acts have confirmed slots alongside Linkin Park, Deftones and John Legend, with more to be announced.

Traditionally held in Rio De Janeiro, Rock In Rio was first staged in 1985. The Las Vegas festival will take place over two weekends in May at the MGM Resort.

The first details of the big event were unveiled at an announcement gig in New York's Times Square over the weekend, during which John Mayer and Brazilian heavy rockers Sepultura performed.

"Our friends from Rock In Rio are heading Stateside for the first time and we just have to be a part of it!" says a statement on Metallica.com.

"So look for us to headline the first ever Rock In Rio in Las Vegas, NV appearing on the World Stage at the MGM Resorts Festival Grounds one night during the first weekend of the festival, May 8-9, 2015. We've been a part of six Rock In Rio festivals, one in Madrid, two in Brazil and three in Lisbon, and each one of them has been a special unique next level experience. We're thrilled to be part of the very first US version."

No Doubt, who appeared at a press conference to launch the event, released a statement, which reads: "We are extremely happy to be taking the stage of Rock in Rio's first US festival and to be part of such an amazing musical history as the festival celebrates its 30th anniversary."

During the launch gala in New York it was revealed that headliner Swift's pop rival Katy Perry will perform at next year's Rock in Rio event in Brazil, alongside acts like Legend.
