Michael Buble at Vector Arena review

Michael Buble returned to New Zealand last night for the first time in 10 years and performed at Auckland's Vector Arena to a jam-packed audience.

It was not only a special show for those in attendance, but for him also. It was his 100th show as part of his latest world tour, and his parents came along for the ride.

At first I was a bit unsure of going to Buble's concert. I usually only ever listen to him during Christmas time with locked doors and curtains drawn. But to tastelessly quote one of Buble's cover songs, I left last night's concert "feeling good".

The Canadian performed a song for everyone. He included his newer songs and some older covers to the delight of the 81-year-old woman who sat beside me.

Most notably, I enjoyed his performance of 'Everything'. He started the song accompanied by his musical director on the piano, playing the song as Buble first wrote it when he was 16-years-old before gradually swinging to its more modern twist.

I was also impressed with how Buble ended the show. He disregarded the microphone and projected his voice to the entire arena, singing 'A Song For You'.

There is no disputing that this is a very talented singer. But if you go to one of his shows, you'll learn fast that he's not just a singer, but rather very talented entertainer, who incorporates a lot of humour into his show.

He was eager to make sure the audience had a good time, calling out sign bearers to the front of the stage for a hug and an autograph. He even had a second stage set up way at the back of the arena, which he later performed on to tease the front-rowers who spent more money on their tickets.

Let's just hope New Zealand doesn't have to wait another 10 years for a taste of Buble again. He is well-worth a ticket.

Michael Buble will perform his last New Zealand show tonight, again at Auckland's Vector Arena.
