Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones reunite

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have reunited for the first time since their split to take their children trick-or-treating.

The Wall Street star and Zeta-Jones separated earlier this year but put aside their differences on Thursday to partake in the Halloween tradition with their son and daughter.

However, Douglas admits he wasn't properly prepared for the fright night and picked out a random mask from a Halloween store - without realising it was actually the costume for a serial killer from the Friday the 13th horror film franchise.

He tells US morning show Live! with Kelly and Michael, "My son, Dylan, was a hobbit and my daughter, Carys, was a flapper girl, Catherine was Snow White and I was late trying to figure out something to do. So I grabbed a mask in the store and I thought it said, Mike Myers (the actor),' I said, 'Mike Myers has a Halloween mask?' So I put it on and I said, 'I don't remember this character,' and I'm walking around and everyone is looking at me saying, 'Ooh,' and I said, 'What?' and they said, 'It's Michael Myers from Friday the 13th, it was the guy who stabbed everybody'."

News of their reconciliation emerges just days after Douglas sported his wedding ring on the red carpet for his new film, Last Vegas, and took a "very important call" from Zeta-Jones while attending the New York premiere on Tuesday.

A source told the New York Daily News the couple has reconciled: "She called to wish him good luck and he said, 'Thanks honey.' The only reason she wasn't by his side is because she didn't want to take attention away from the film. It was Michael's night. She wanted to say hello and didn't realise he was on the carpet already."
