7 Days host Jeremy Corbett is handing over the reins to Australian comedian Rove McManus - but just for one night.

He'll be tasked with keeping Dai Henwood and Paul Ego in line on the August 26 episode of the popular current events and comedy show.

Corbett will be away on holiday, and 7 Days producer Jon Bridges says it's time to experiment.

"Jeremy is a great host on 7 Days, or is he? It's like being married - you never know what other husbands might be like, and you never get a chance to find out.

"I'm really looking forward to our little fling with Rove."

Rove will only be in the country for a couple of days, where he'll also be looking to rekindle his bromance with former TV3 presenter John Campbell.

"If I fly to New Zealand and don't catch up with him there's something wrong with the world," he told the New Zealand Herald.

7 Days broadcasts on TV3 on Friday nights at 9:30pm.
