New trailer released for Disney Pacific princess film Moana

A new trailer for Disney's upcoming animated film Moana has been released.

Moana is Disney's first film that features a Pacific princess and it's not where the Kiwi connection ends. Flight of the Conchords' Jermaine Clement and Hunt for the Wilderpeople's Rachel House are two Kiwis' among the cast. And Kiwi director Taika Waititi had a hand in writing the musical adventure.

"Ever defeat a lava monster?" asks demi-god Maui in the new trailer.

"No have you?" quips Moana, the Pacific princess.

The two team up to traverse the ocean.

While she may be a princess, what we've seen so far in released trailers points to Moana being no push over and quite the adventurer.

The film opens in the United States on November 23, but we'll have to wait more than a month longer, with a release here due on December 26.

Moana is directed by the team behind The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, Ron Clements and John Musker.
