New Zealand Fashion Week, the winter highlight for chic ladies and dapper gentlemen, is nearly here.

A mix of both established and emerging talent will be lining the catwalk at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre from August 22 through to August 28.

Fashion Week (NZFW) founder Dame Pieter Stewart says this year "sees a particularly strong group of emerging, new generation and graduate designers."

For the fashion-forward who are looking to gain an exclusive glimpse at next season's collections, the Resene Designer Runway shows fall on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

These shows are said to be the public's best chance at seeing what is on offer from all of the designers' showcases.

NZ Fashion Weekend will also feature a busy schedule of in-season designer shows and fashion as well as beauty seminars on August 27 and 28.

Opening NZFW on Monday night will be design duo Harman Grubiša, the recipients of Mercedes-Benz Presents accolade for 2016.

Household names like Huffer, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Knuefermann and Twenty Seven Names will be presenting their collections at off-site venues throughout the week.

They will be joined by Hailwood, Federation and Salasai at the Viaduct Events Centre.

Following successful first appearances at Fashion Week in 2015, Wynn Hamlyn, Lucilla Gray and Carena West will all be presenting their collections independently within the Contemporary Salon category this year.

Wynn Hamlyn will show beautifully-crafted modern pieces on Tuesday, quirky and feminine Lucilla Gray designs will be presented on Wednesday, while Carena West will exhibit her statement swimwear collection on Thursday afternoon.

K Road's true style is set to impress on Tuesday night with Lela Jacobs, Jimmy D, Ovna Ovich and Maaike featuring in the AOK K Road show.

The 2016 Miromoda showcase is set to be another highlight of the schedule, featuring talented Maori designers, including Keri Wanoa and Brooke Strang of Wanoa Four.

The Friday Fashion Lunch will feature Kate Sylvester, Hailwood, Ruby, Juliette Hogan, Trelise Cooper, Liam, Kneufermann and Adrienne Winkelmann.

WORLD's much anticipated show is expected to light up Saturday night with their colourful designs.

The calibre of new fashion design talent from around the country has seen organisers include a second New Generation show this year.

The two shows will feature emerging designers including Erik Yvon, Mitchell Vincent, AO Label, Campbell Luke, Motel Bible, Kendall Watt and Danielle Power-Silk.

Previous entrants in the New Generation shows include street wear label Federation who are back at NZFW for their 14th year, to both the trade and consumer audiences, after premiering at the show in 2002 to international acclaim.
