The younger members of Newshub's Rio Olympics contingent appeared perhaps a little too loose on The Friday Story, admitting to drinking cheap beer, using Tinder and seeing "a couple" of Brazillians.

Jeff McTainsh, Jacob Brown and Lewis Hampton had been up for several hours before crossing live into the programme, with host Paddy Gower saying he ordered them to drink beers beforehand.

Brown said they were buying local beers for around NZ80c per can, which was "very handy with the per diems".

"The guys in town are getting ripped off Paddy, they're paying about $1.20 a can," added McTainsh.

Comedian Jeremy Elwood was a Friday Story panel member and used his enormous professional wit to come up with the question, "Have you seen many Brazillians?"

Surprisingly, Brown replied, "A couple. A couple, actually."

He and McTainsh then then candidly announced that Hampton was using Tinder while in Rio.

"We're embracing the local culture," admitted Hampton.

Thankfully, the Olympics come to a close on Monday, so there's no chance the trio will appear on next week's episode and try and outdo themselves with more outrageous confessions.
