No fur for Gallagher's Pretty Green label

Animal activists have heaped praise on British rocker Liam Gallagher for boycotting fur in his clothing designs.

The Oasis rocker instituted a no-fur policy after launching his Pretty Green label, which has been added to a list of cruelty-free fashion brands compiled by officials at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

Pretty Green labels also identify all garments made with faux-fur trim, and PETA bosses are thrilled with Gallagher's commitment to stylish alternatives.

PETA's Senior Programme Manager Yvonne Taylor says, "Only the truly arrogant can ignore the suffering of minks who go mad from being confined to small cages and foxes who chew off their own limbs to escape painful steel-jaw traps.

"We are delighted to add Liam to the list of truly talented visionaries and trendsetters who are able to design stylish, fashionable and popular clothing without the use of fur."

Designers including Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and Vivienne Westwood have also sworn off fur in their clothing.
