Hillary Clinton already has a string of celebrity endorsements, and now she can add one more famous face to her list.

Parks and Recreation's Ron Swanson has said he would vote for the Democratic nominee over her rival, Republican Donald Trump.

Actor Nick Offerman, who portrayed Swanson on the acclaimed NBC comedy, tweeted he is often asked "how Ron Swanson would weigh in on this election".

He says he contacted a 'source' close to Swanson.

"Ron wouldn't think much of Trump," the source revealed.

"First of all, he'd be very sad that a businessman entered politics. Huge step backwards. He had it made in the private sector and he blew it!"

Speaking on the recent sexual abuse allegations circling the Republican, the source said: "Trump disrespects women. Ron likes women. Because they are human beings and deserve to be treated with basic dignity."

However, while Swanson would vote Clinton over Trump, he had some harsh words for the Democrat as well: "Ron would not like Hillary either. She is a career politician. Ron has no love of career politicians."

Swanson suggests better candidates for President would be singers Merle Haggard or Willie Nelson.
