British rocker Pete Doherty is heading back to rehab in a bid to finally put his drug problems behind him.

The Libertines frontman has battled addictions to heroin and crack cocaine for almost 10 years and he is currently attempting to swap hard drugs for regulated substitutes.

Doherty details his problems in a new interview with Britain's NME, telling the magazine, "(I am) using heroin substitutes, Subutex. For example, between last Thursday and Sunday I didn't use any gear at all. And for me, it's (about) reaching the point where I'm not boasting about being clean for four days... And it was a case of on the Monday going back to London (from Paris, France) and being sick on the Eurostar (train) and scoring and really, I didn't really need to. It's kind of pointless."

He adds, "You have to reach an all-time low, apparently. Before you truly surrender... I've got a long way to go."

The reporter claims to have subsequently received a text message from Doherty, revealing the star plans to check himself into rehab at the end of the month to battle his demons once again.

The message, reportedly sent by Doherty, reads, "It's Peter Doherty. Thought you might be interested to know that I'm booked to go to rehab at the end of April."

The Babyshambles star has endured numerous legal troubles in the past due to his drug habit and spent several months in jail last year after he admitted a charge of possessing cocaine.
