Thirty-five years since Jaws scared movie-goers out of the water, a new 3D film is hoping to resurrect the same old fears.

The director says Piranha 3D will be everything that Avatar didn't want to be with nudity, blood and pre-historic killer fish.

Piranha 3D is a remake of a 1978 film and this time, as you may have guessed, it's in 3D.

“Its spring break under attack by pre-historical piranha,” says director Alex Aja.

Actor Kelly Brook says the film “has everything”.

“I think we've used more blood than anyone else. It's got beautiful girls everywhere, getting naked everywhere, I mean; it's everything you would expect,” she says.

The British model turned actor says it was easier with a French director.

“I think just being French as well; they just have a particular way that they get you to do things,” she says.

“I don't know if it's just with a French accent, it's like “Kelly would you just take your top off” and I’m like “yeah okay!”. If it was like some kind of American, like “Kelly, get your top off” I'd be like "no! No!" I’d feel really uncomfortable!”

Director Aja says his film is the anti-Avatar.

“It was made to be the opposite of Avatar. Like everything out of the screen, everything flying at you, everything being like in the gimmick angle of the 3D.”

It includes a cameo from actor and fellow horror director Eli Roth, fresh out of his role in Inglorious Basterds.

“I said after working with Quentin Tarantino and Brad Pitt, “how can I ever top it? I'm going to retire from acting”. And then Alex Aja called me, he's a good friend, and he said “I want you to host the wet t-shirt contest” and I said, "I’ll be there tomorrow",” he says.

Piranha 3D opens here later this month.
