Members of Rage Against the Machine, Cypress Hill and Public Enemy have confirmed they've joined forces -- but don't call them a supergroup.

Prophets of Rage features the three non-singing members of Rage -- Tim Commerford, Tom Morello and Brad Wilk -- with rappers Chuck D (Public Enemy) and B-Real (Cypress Hill).

"We're not a supergroup," Morello told Rolling Stone at the group's big reveal.

"We're an elite task force of revolutionary musicians determined to confront this mountain of election year bullshit, and confront it head-on with Marshall stacks blazing."

Rage were trailblazers in the 1990s with their combination of funk-metal riffs and rap.

Wilk says the first time he heard Cypress Hill blew his mind.

"I was like, 'Holy shit! This is fucking awesome."

Commerford says Cypress Hill's early work and Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back were big influences on Rage Against the Machine.

Chuck D called Rage "the Led Zeppelin of our time".

"It was one of those rare instances when the planets just lined up right and the alchemy of musical magic and history just poured out."

The band only has one show booked so far, and plan to play songs by all their previous groups as well as new material.
