Canadian rock band Nickelback were subjected to a Twitter prank by police in Queensland, Australia ahead of the group's gig in the region last night.

The 'How You Remind Me' hitmakers, who were due to play at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Boondall, were accused of making crimes against music by officials at Queensland Police Service.

The police posted a spoof wanted poster showing a cartoon image of the group on their official Twitter account, adding the caption, "Urgent police warning: Men matching this description expected to be committing musical crimes in Boondall tonight."

The rockers, who have not responded to the jibe, are currently embarking on their No Fixed Address Tour, which concludes in Minsk, Belarus in December this year.
