Run-DMC is a band that knows it’s tricky to rock a rhyme that’s right on time, but that’s exactly what they’ll be doing pre Super Bowl.

Run-DMC is set to open for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers at a pre Super Bowl concert in San Francisco.

Band members Simmons and Darryl "DMC" McDaniels retired the group after their DJ Jam Master Jay was killed in 2002.

But Simmons and McDaniels continue to perform together, appearing in Lip Sync Battle last year.

Run-DMC helped take rap to the mainstream with multiplatinum records and hits including ‘It's Tricky’, '’Adidas’ and ‘Walk This Way’ with Aerosmith in the 1980s.

"We are from that era of eternally great, amazing, fun and enjoyable music with a presentation theme," McDaniels told Billboard. "That's what the people are going to get. We've still got some longevity with this rock 'n' roll, hip-hop thing."

The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.

The show is an invitation only event co-hosted by Mark Cuban's AXS TV.
