Controversial British comedian Russell Brand is set to be a first-time father, and has revealed his unconventional intentions for parenthood.

Speaking with talk show host Jonathan Ross, Brand said he may raise his child 'gender neutral'  meaning he will not restrict the child to traditional 'male or female' labels.

"I may not even ever impose a gender upon it, let the child grow up and be whatever the hell it is, never tell it there is such a concept," he said.

The comedian is due to have a child with his girlfriend of one year, model Laura Gallacher, after divorcing with pop-star Katy Perry in 2012.

Gender neutrality in children is a relatively new and progressive concept, intending to allow children the ability to grow up in an environment without stereotypes or societal expectations being placed upon them.
