The hit show 'Ice Age Live' has just landed our shores, with the first performance in Auckland tonight.

As well as your favourite characters and some clever skating, audiences will also be treated to acrobatics, puppetry, martial arts and comedy.

The show was first performed at London's Wembley Arena in 2012. Now it's on a five-year journey across five continents, taking in 65 cities in 25 countries. And they take with them one of the largest ice floors in the world.

There are 45 performers and everyone has an understudy.

The show is based on the 2002 film Ice Age directed by Chris Wedge, bringing to life the adventures of 'Sid the Sloth', 'Manny the Mammoth', 'Diego', and of course the very annoying but entertaining 'Scrat the Squirrel' as they try to survive the world being flooded by glaciers.

There are currently four Ice Age movies in the franchise, and a fifth is due out later this year.

Aziz Al-Sa'afin was the first reporter to be allowed to skate alongside the cast.
