The X Factor NZ contestants Moorhouse have signed a deal with Sony Music.

The Christchurch boy band came fourth in the first season of the hit show, eliminated in week nine.

But since their audition – singing Justin Bieber's 'As Long As You Love Me' – they've amassed a rabid fanbase across the country and racked up more than 1 million views on YouTube.

The band – Marley Wilcox-Nanai, 17, Rory McKenna, 20, Brock Ashby, 19, Jason Aileone, 19 – are currently working on their debut album, which will be out before Christmas.

"This is a dream come true for us," says Brock.

"We have worked really hard to get here, to be on the same label as Stan Walker, who we look up to, is a complete honour. This is everything we wanted and more."

Sony first expressed interest in the group last year, prior to X Factor, but nothing came of the meeting.
