Oscar-winning filmmaker Spike Jonze has released his latest work - a bizarre music video to help launch fashion label Kenzo's first perfume.

The video centres on actress and dancer Margaret Qualley, who performs a dance choreographed by Ryan Heffington to a new piece of music by Sam Spiegel, Ape Drums and Agent Sasco.

Qualley's character started the video in an awards ceremony, before she walks out into an adjoining hallway and begins the dance - first with her eyes only, but later with elaborate flips and leg flicks.

During her high-energy dance, the video's protagonist gains magical powers, using them to shoot lasers from her hands.

There's nothing in the video to indicate it's a perfume ad until the very end, when Qualley jumps through a sculpture that resembles Kenzo's distinctive eye motif. Text then appears on-screen announcing the fragrance.

The Leftovers star Qualley trained at American Ballet Theatre in New York, while Heffington's most recognisable work is Sia's 'Chandelier' video.
