Stephen King's written his shortest horror story yet, and the reaction online suggests it could be his biggest hit in years.

It's so succinct, he fit the entire plot in a single tweet.

"Once upon a time there was a man named Donald Trump, and he ran for president. Some people wanted him to win."

His 22-word terror-filled vision has been retweeted more than 67,000 times and liked more than 100,000. Fans responded by putting the Republican nominee for President into scenes from the horror maestro's books.

King's books often top 1000 pages. The veteran writer has more than 2.4 million followers on Twitter, and has spent much of the past few months taking shots at Mr Trump.

He's also told people to "cool the clown hysteria", saying most clowns are "good" people - one of his best-known books being It, about a killer monster who takes the form of a clown.
