Pop superstar Taylor Swift has documented her vote in the US presidential election the morning after throwing a birthday party for her Kiwi BFF Lorde.

The 'Bad Blood' hitmaker shared a picture on Instagram of her lining up to vote and while she isn't announcing who she's supporting, her fashion choice may give a clue.

Swift donned a dark cold-shoulder top with a high neck and black lace trim on the and cuffs, reminiscent of an iconic photo of Hillary Clinton in a black cold-shoulder gown by Donna Karan - just days after Lena Dunham wore a similar top in official support of the Democratic nominee.

Swift's morning trip to the voting booth came after a night out with the Grammy-winning 'Royals' hitmaker, who turned 20 this week.

After posting a touching message showing a hand-made birthday card on Instagram, Swift threw what Lorde called "the best birthday party ever" with celeb guests including Aziz Ansari, Karlie Kloss, Lena Dunham and Mae Whitman.

The night spawned several Instagram posts and a message from Lorde thanking Swift as her "mom" and an "angel".
