Taylor Swift, Zayn Malik drop surprise new song for 50 Shades

Pop star Taylor Swift has stunned fans worldwide, abruptly dropping a new track with former One Direction member Zayn Malik.

The song, titled 'I Don't Wanna Live Forever', was released in the New Zealand iTunes store at midnight and by 8am on Saturday had already hit the top of the charts.

It's a sultry tune launched for the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack, the latest film in the 50 Shades of Grey franchise.

Swift co-wrote the song with Jack Antonoff, who also worked on her album 1989, and Sam Dew, a hip-hop artist.

It's the first music she's released since 2014's 1989 and topped the US iTunes store's chart within hours.

The hashtag #IDon'tWannaLiveForever also shot to the top of Twitter's worldwide trends.

While Swift and Malik were both quite restrained in tweeting about their new song, the same can't be said for their fans.
