Namco Bandai has announced they will attempt to set a World Record for ‘Largest screen used in a videogame tournament’, as officially recognised by Guinness World Record.

The world record attempt will take place on Tuesday September 11, 2012 at the IMAX theatre in Sydney, Australia.

Competing in the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 competition will be around 400 IGN community members, fighting for a spot in the European championships.

"As technology continues to astound and amaze, the field of entertainment and gaming is constantly becoming bigger and better,” says Chris Sheedy, Australian representative of Guinness World Records.

“I'm thrilled to be witnessing a new record being set in such spectacular circumstances.”

“Tekken is the big daddy of fighting games and there’s no better way to find Australia’s next Tekken champion than playing off head-to-head - on the world’s biggest screen,” says  Mark Gilbert of Namco Bandai Partners.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is set for a New Zealand release of September 13, 2012 on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
