Superhero blockbuster The Avengers leads the movie nominations at the 2013 People’s Choice Awards with eight including favourite movie, favourite action movie, and multiple nods for Robert Downey Jr, Anne Hathaway, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Hemsworth.
It will compete with fellow superhero movies The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises, fantasy film Snow White and the Huntsman and futuristic thriller The Hunger Games for favorite movie.
People magazine's newly-crowned Sexiest Man Alive Channing Tatum, who this year starred in The Vow, 21 Jump Street, and Magic Mike, picked up four acting nods, and Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence tied with three for their respective roles in The Amazing Spider-Man and The Hunger Games.
Sir Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings got a nod despite being over a decade old – the trilogy is nominated for favourite movie fan following alongside the franchises Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Hunger Games and Twilight.
The nominees were chosen by the votes of more than 93 million fans. Voting for the winners in all 48 categories begins today on website www.PeoplesChoice.com.
