The Bachelor NZ exit interview: Gabs

The Bachelor NZ exit interview: Gabs

Last night, Gabrielle was eliminated from The Bachelor by 32-year-old Jordan Mauger, leaving Erin, Naz and Fleur in the final three.

After beating 20-odd other girls, Gabs was understandably starting to envisage a future with the bach, particularly when they were up at the Bay of Islands, where she is from.

The 29-year-old is sad things didn't work out, but she's not bitter about her experience on the show.

"At the end of the day, we all had a connection but mine just wasn't won over the others'."

Getting down to the final four meant that Jordan's decisions were becoming more and more intricate, and his connection with each of the girls was becoming stronger.

He even took a breather at the rose ceremony when he had to choose between Naz and Gabs.

To the viewer, it seemed like Jordan was becoming concerned that Gabs didn't show enough emotion, and therefore sent her home.

Gabs said she just shows her emotions in a different way.

"Everyone shows emotion and vulnerability differently and perhaps mine wasn't as much as what Jordan needed to see, but that's who I am. I wasn't going to burst into tears because he needed to see tears."

Unlike many of the other eliminated contestants, Gabrielle had no idea who was going to be sent home.

"There was an element of shock."

However, she says she was content after leaving.

"It would've been great to stay on and move on with Jordan but we all had a connection with him so it all came down to who had the best one with him."
