She made it to the top five, but Kate said it was liberating to leave The Bachelor.

The 28-year-old didn't expect to make it so far in the competition, particularly when she felt no chemistry with the 32-year-old bachelor.

However, the advertising saleswoman says despite going into her last single date as a last-ditch attempt to see if there was a connection, they both felt they'd each put each other in the friend-zone.

"You've got to have that chemistry... After that single date it sort of confirmed what I'd felt from the get-go."

And despite making it so far, she said she was ready to go home a lot earlier.

"After abseiling I was in a bit of shock and definitely saw him as more of a friend, but I stuck it out and gave it a go."

The biggest wake-up call for Kate has been that she's turned into an accidental role model for young girls. She says she gets girls coming up to her and that makes her very wary of her behaviour in public.

"It's been pretty amazing how many young girls look up to you, I think that's where I start getting a bit serious."

That's not necessarily a bad thing, though.

"You are being watched. Picking your nose at the lights probably isn't a good idea anymore," she laughs.

She's not one that's used to being in the spotlight however, and she says watching herself back on TV was hard.

"You're your own worst critic. Seeing yourself in all these different harnesses with the worst wedgies was probably the most awful thing I think I've ever seen, and seeing yourself in a cocktail dress that's quite tight around your belly -- you're the first one to critique yourself."

Kate doesn't mind that she was the only one remaining on the show who didn't share a kiss with Jordan.

"It's good to be a little bit different. I didn't try and force it."
