UK reggae legends UB40 have announced two New Zealand concerts - almost an entire year before they'll happen.

The 'Red Red Wine' hitmakers will perform at Auckland's Trusts Arena and Christchurch's Horncastle Arena in November 2017 and they're making very sure fans have enough time to buy tickets.

Founder and original singer Ali Campbell won't be part of the tour after leaving the band in 2007, when he was replaced by his brothers Robin and Duncan.

"Our Australasian tour in 2015 was so much fun for us, we were very keen to ensure we got back as soon as possible," says Robin Campbell.

"Unfortunately, scheduling has meant that November next year is our next opportunity, so rather than keep fans guessing, we wanted to let everyone know now and start the anticipation for what we hope will be 2017s biggest reggae party."

The line-up also features Earl Falconer on bass and vocals, Brian Travers on sax and keyboards, Jimmy Brown on drums, Norman Hassan on percussion and vocals, Martin Meredith on sax, Lawrence Parry on trumpet and Tony Mullins on keyboards.

General tickets go on sale this Friday, December 9.
