Video: Jono and Ben challenge bumper car record for charity

Comedic duo Jono and Ben have taken time out from terrorising celebrities and members of the public to put themselves through their paces, spending 30 hours in a bumper car.

"Why" is the obvious question, and there are two answers:

1. to break the world record, and 2. most importantly, they are raising money for a special organisation -- I Have A Dream Charitable Trust, whose mission is to "inspire and enable children at low-decile schools to reach their full potential".

As Newshub catches the boys in their 27th hour, they're pretty over it as you'd expect with that little sleep, but their spirits are high and wits just as sharp.

Interview after interview is laid on them, but they're the ones doing the interview usually -- so being interviewed is a welcome change.

There are hourly breaks, incentives and rewards to get them through. They said their darkest hour was 11 hours in, at 2am this morning, when they realised they still had 19 hours to go.

Though the boys have done some pretty tiresome stuff, like crossing the Cook Strait in a banana boat, they say this is one of the most taxing so far.

You can donate to the I Have A Dream Charitable Trust by texting DREAM to 833 to make an instant $3 donation.
