Tributes are flowing for the youngest-ever winner of the World of Wearable Art Supreme Award, who has died at the age of just 29.

Claire Prebble won the award with her design EOS in 2004. She described her work as plaiting and stitching with wire.

After working with Alexander McQueen in London, she joined Weta Workshop, constructing countless blue costumes by hand for Avatar, as well as costumes for The Hobbit, Elysium and Spiderman 2.

Prebble recently spent two months in Germany receiving treatment for aggressive melanoma.

Weta Workshop told 3 News "to think what this incredible young woman achieved and would have, no doubt, gone on to achieve is heart-breaking, but also hugely inspiring".
