The UK version of X-Factor has come under fire over the success of rapper "Honey G," who many of the show's fans have accused of mocking black culture.

The 35-year-old rapper, who some are calling "an actor" and "a joke," has polarised the popular show's audience members as she continues to progress through the show's elimination rounds.

Many have accused the rapper of being a fake and taking opportunities away from more serious and competitive acts. Others have accused her of cultural appropriation and turning black rap culture into a joke with her comical raps.

After the show's Motown themed episode where the singer performed the Diana Ross hit 'I'm Coming Out', critics took to social media accusing the singer of racism.

One wrote: “R to the A to the C to the I to the S to the T. It’s racist ITV.”

Another added: “Honey G is a racist caricature of black culture.”

Another said: “Appropriating black culture 4 the sake of comedy is racist.”

Despite the criticism, rap legend Snoop Dogg has come out in support of Honey G, telling Metro UK: "I am happy to see Simon [Cowell] is finally giving real hip-hop talent a chance on the show, it's been a long time coming."

50 Cent added his two cents, saying he wanted the former recruitment manager from Harrow to "go far".

X-Factor judge Sharon Osbourne also leapt to her defence, telling The Sun that while the show is a singing competition, there should always room for entertainment.

"She is an upper for everyone. Love her or hate her people still want to see what she's going to do next week," Osbourne said.

Honey G has denied claims she's a fake, saying she's "stepping up to the streets" with her performances.

"I just say middle finger to my haters."

The performer is set to perform Men In Black on this weekend's Fright Night-themed show.
