The birth of a rare white rhinoceros has been captured on film in a zoo in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv.

The 20-year-old mother, named Tanda, weighs two tonnes and comes from South Africa.

Her pregnancy lasted for a year and half and this is her third offspring.

She has already given birth once at the zoo, where she has been for around six years.

The white rhino is an endangered species. South Africa lost 448 rhinos to poaching in 2011, according to official government figures.
