Despite cloudy skies across most of New Zealand, sky-gazers witnessed a partial eclipse this morning.
Up to 91 percent of the sun was obscured by the moon at the peak of the eclipse, around 10:24am.
People around the country looked through special telescopes or glasses to catch a glimpse of the sun as the moon crossed its path.
The next eclipse like this one won’t be seen in New Zealand until 2028.
