Run, Carter, run!

Chris Carter’s problems stem from refusing to answer one simple question; would he apologise to the public for misspending taxpayers’ money?

Rather than answer the questions asked of him, he chose to run.

Mr Carter spent all morning hiding in the Labour Caucus room and when he finally came out there were many questions – but the only ones he was interested in answering were his own.

“Do I regret going off the front bench of the Labour party and dropping the Foreign Affairs portfolio? I sure do,” he said.

Once he had finished voicing his own regrets, Mr Carter turned from reporters and ran.

But there was only one way out of the Caucus room and Mr Carter was forced to face the media again.

Out the side door and two flights of stairs stood between Mr Carter and the safety of an office – even though it wasn’t his.

Colleague Pete Hodgson discovered Mr Carter holed up in his office.

He had put up with him all morning and wanted lunch, so Mr Carter was forced back out into the bowels of Parliament again.

When he found himself into the lobby, where only MPs are permitted, Labour leader Phil Goff decided what Mr Carter needed was a lie down.

And to publicly apologise for his behaviour.
