Boxer David Nyika carries New Zealand best hopes of gold, as the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games enter their penultimate day.

Nyika beat England's Cheavon Clarke in Friday's 91kg semi-final and will face Aussie Jason Whateley in the final, hoping to repeat his victory in the light heavyweight division at Glasgow four years ago.

The Black Sticks men and women both play for gold in the hockey finals.

After success on the track, road and cross-country, the cycling squad will return to the streets of Currumbin for the men's and women's road races.

Any of our riders are capable of placing if they get the break, but probably Jack Bauer and mountain bike champion Sam Gaze hold our best men's hopes, time-trial silver medallist Linda Villumsen and Kate McIlroy in the women.

Joelle King and Paul Coll play for mixed doubles bronze at the squash, with King and Amanda Landers-Murphy still a medal chance in the women's doubles as well.

After falling to favourites Australia on Friday night, the Tall Ferns play for bronze at the basketball.
