The line-up for New Zealand's premier indie music festival has been announced - and as usual, there are plenty of big hitters.

It was revealed on Tuesday that Chet Faker's brand of smooth electronic pop would be gracing St Jerome's Laneway Festival in Auckland come 2017 - and that announcement has been followed up with a swathe of other huge local and international acts.

Tame Impala will undoubtedly be the headliners at Albert Park - which is the festival's new, shadier, more expansive home after five years at a cramped Silo Park.

The Australian band's psychedelic rock last charmed the Auckland festival in 2013 - and plenty has changed since then, with the release of critically-acclaimed album Currents earning them two Grammy nominations.

Joining them on the list is Chicago-based rapper Mick Jenkins, who has made huge strides with the release of a pair of widely praised mixtapes in the last two years.

Glass Animals are another major coup for festival organisers; their debut album Zaba was an instant hit that took the experimental pop quartet to new heights - and with a new album just released, the Oxford band could be household names by the time they touch down in Auckland.

Clams Casino rounds up the major international acts - the producer working with some of hip-hop's biggest names and releasing plenty of his own music over the past half-decade or so.

There's also a smattering of talented locals on the ticket - with indie rockers Cut Off Your Hands, dream pop singer Fazerdaze, veteran band The Chills and alternative five-piece The Veils all scheduled to perform on January 30.

Tickets go on sale on September 21.
