'Most diverse' dating show Undressed sees participants strip off for love

Some people probably wouldn't strip off and jump into bed with a potential partner on the day they met.

But it could be the key to true love, as new reality TV show Undressed aims to find out.

Australia just got its own version of the show, which aired for the first time on Monday night to a somewhat perplexed audience.

"I'd rather drop my dacks and sit on a bully ants' nest than watch this filth," one unamused person wrote on Facebook.

The network behind the show, SBS, proudly proclaims Undressed as "the most diverse dating show to hit Australian screens" - and while it may seem a little odd for most people, it's not wrong there.

The trailer alone shows off participants from several races, and even a gay couple and a lesbian couple.

"Undressed is much more than a dating show. By bringing diverse individuals together in a new TV format for SBS, the program is an opportunity for us to explore our charter in a fun and mischievous way," says Marshall Heald, SBS director of television and online content.

The premise is simple - participants strip each other down to their tighty whities, hop into to bed and answer a variety of questions from the mundane to the deeply personal.

They then get to choose if they want to stay and get to know their partner more, or head off.

"Undressed is sure to resonate with and enthrall a broad spectrum of Australia, especially when it comes time to decide," Screentime executive producer Jennifer Collins says.

"Yes? Or no? You will be surprised!"

And in case you think this is the raciest dating TV show around, it's merely a contender. Another would be the UK's Naked Attraction, where nude participants stand behind a slowly lifting panel and are judged on their naked merits.
