Video: Newshub's #step4sheeran audition

Video by Calkin Rameka.

Fans of Ed Sheeran have been jumping and dancing at the chance to perform with him in one of his upcoming videos.

Sheeran told an Irish radio station that he's written two "full-on Irish trad songs" for his new album and that he's on the lookout for dancers to appear in a video.

There is one special requirement however: you must be able to 'ceili dance' - a popular form of Irish folk dancing.

Dancers from around the world have been putting their best foot forward trying to get Ed's attention by tagging audition videos with the hashtag #stepforsheeran.

Here in New Zealand there is a strong community of Irish dancers, with schools in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch.

Emma Taylor, 24, now teaches Irish dance.  She's one dancer who would jump at the change to perform for the 'Castle on a Hill' singer.

"I love Ed's music and it would be a once in a lifetime opportunity to mix traditional Irish dancing in with modern music" she says.

With this in mind, we've decided to put together our own effort. Enjoy Newshub's official audition video for a NZ contingent to be sent across the seas.
